How Do I Fix a Cabinet Door That Fell Off?

I had an issue where a kitchen cabinet door fell off, and it looks like the screws were stripped, causing the door to drop with the hinges still attached. I've done some research and think I have a decent plan to fix it. Here's what I'm thinking of doing: 1. Clean and sand the area where the damage occurred. 2. Fill the tiny holes left by the screws with wood putty and let it dry. 3. Drill new holes for the screws (I'm a bit nervous about using a drill for the first time). 4. Align the hinges and screw in new screws, possibly going up a size to prevent it from happening again. I know it's a bit silly, but I've never done a home repair and I'm worried about making mistakes. Any advice would help!

It's totally understandable to be a bit nervous about drilling! Just take your time and maybe practice on a scrap piece of wood if you have one. Going slightly longer with the screws is a good call too, just remember not to make the holes so big that the screws won't hold. You can do it!

Thanks! That's a good idea about practicing first. I feel a bit more confident now!

It sounds like you have a solid plan! Just to be safe when you choose a larger screw, ensure that it won't poke through the other side of the cabinet. Drilling a deeper pilot hole can really help with that. Many people find that using toothpicks or small pieces of wire in the old holes makes for a better grip once you start screwing in the new ones. You got this!
