It might be that there's a nut on the back that's turning with the screw, making it hard to pull out. You could try holding the nut steady while you twist the screw. If that doesn't help, you might need to take off a panel or something to get a better grip. Good luck!
Yeah, if it's stuck like that, sometimes you can also use some penetrating oil to loosen it. Just be careful with the dryer components!
