Hey everyone! I'm having a struggle with blackberries that are creeping in from my neighbor's yard. We have a raised bed garden that's about 30cm high and it's sitting directly on the ground with a wire mesh underneath to keep animals from digging in. The bed runs along a fence where these blackberries are thriving. The neighbors cut theirs back last fall, but the ones on my side keep growing. I've been trimming the shoots back regularly, but I can't dig out the roots because of the raised bed and the fence. It's turning into a monthly chore! I'm considering using herbicides, but does anyone have recommendations?

I totally get what you’re going through! I had to deal with blackberries from a fence line too. I used a strong chemical treatment on the stumps that worked pretty well but just remember, it won’t last long since the neighbors' plants keep spreading. Just make sure to apply it carefully to avoid affecting your garden.
You might want to try glyphosate. It’s known to be effective against blackberries, though I’m usually against using harsh chemicals too. If you're looking for alternatives, it could be tough since digging them out isn’t an option. Sometimes just cutting back doesn't help much either.
Thanks for the tip! I would like to avoid chemicals if possible, but I need to find a solution fast.

That's the kind of info I need! I don’t want to harm my veggies, so keeping it localized is key.
