How Do I Get Started with Repairing Vintage Electronics?

I recently got my hands on a 1960s Jetco metal detector that's not working, and I'm totally unsure about where to begin learning how to fix it. Eventually, I also want to tackle repairing an old vending machine and other vintage electronics. Could anyone point me to some useful manuals or YouTube channels that can help me get started?

Do you already have some understanding of electronics, or are you starting from scratch? Having basic tools like a multimeter, oscilloscope, and a soldering iron will really help you out. It would be useful to know your starting point to give the best advice!

If you’re looking for general knowledge along with lots of info on tube amplifiers, Uncle Doug's channel is great! For RF and ham radio stuff, Alan Wolke (W2AEW) is a master at it. If you're into vintage home computer repair, Adrian's Digital Basement is awesome. And for DIY projects, Ben Eater's channel is perfect if you want to build your own computer from scratch.
