Hey everyone! I've always enjoyed watching woodworking videos and now I'm looking to dive into it myself. My dream is to eventually create things like chairs, tables, and bookshelves, but I want to start off with something simple. The whole thing feels a bit overwhelming and potentially costly. I'm wondering how to kick things off—should I tackle a restoration project at home, or maybe start by building a basic box? What tools should I consider getting? Any advice would be hugely appreciated! Thanks!

Before jumping into a big project, think about how you want to work. Try to avoid heavy machinery and extravagant tools until you have a clearer idea of your style. Start with something simple, like a box—just a saw, hammer, and a few nails can get you there. As you grow in confidence, you can gradually expand your toolkit and tackle more complex projects.
I recommend taking the weekend woodworker course! It was an awesome introduction for me a few years back and gave me a solid foundation. Check it out if you're looking for structured guidance.
Starting with some basic utility projects like storage racks is a great way to get your feet wet. You could also build a workbench or a router table. Over time, build your tool collection based on the projects you take on and invest in quality where it counts.
