How Do I Grow Ivy Plants from Cuttings for a Wall?

I'm a DIY gardener looking for some advice on how to cover a 30-meter long, 10-foot high wall with ivy. Buying enough evergreen ivy plants is going to be pretty costly, so I'm considering growing my own from cuttings. I have ivy growing on another wall, but I've never tried rooting cuttings before. What's the best way to grow ivy plants from cuttings? How long should I expect it to take for the plants to grow enough to cover the wall? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

One effective method is to lay a length of the growing ivy in a tray or trough and pin it down to the soil. It will start rooting at each leaf node. Once it roots well and shoots up some vertical growth, you can snip out each section to create new plants! This way, you get multiple plants without needing to rely solely on cuttings. It's a nice little hack to save some cash while beautifying your wall!

Thanks for explaining that! So just to clarify, if I take a 1-meter section of ivy, I can plant it into the soil at the base of the wall, and it’ll grow up once it roots?
