I'm looking to replace the current regular door with a fire rated door between my house and attached garage. My home is a lincoln log style with 6" D profile logs and the garage side has been insulated with 2x4 framing and covered with type x drywall, resulting in a door jamb that's about 10.5" wide. What are my best options here? Should I consider getting a custom fire rated door made or should I cut back the drywall and insulation on the garage side to fit a more standard jamb size of 6 9/16? I'm located in New Hampshire.
