So my grandpa hired a contractor for some work on his house, paying a whopping $16,000 back in September. Fast forward to now, and the guy is still working on the job, and he's already $4,000 over budget! To make matters worse, the work he's done so far looks pretty terrible. Can anyone give me some insight on whether any of this is acceptable or if my grandpa has been taken for a ride? Here's a link to some photos of the work: [link](https://imgur.com/a/diy-part-1-QiPsswH)

Yikes, that’s a tough spot to be in. Your grandpa probably did get ripped off, especially if the work looks bad and costs have ballooned. I’d recommend looking into local housing regulations or consumer rights groups that could help him figure out what to do next.
Honestly, that work looks like a total hackjob. No way it’s worth the $16,000 your grandpa paid. If he’s already that far over budget and still waiting on this guy, I’d seriously consider cutting ties immediately. Make sure he doesn’t pay another penny! This feels like fraud to me, especially with the quality you showed.
Totally agree! The amount of money spent versus what’s done is outrageous. I hope your grandpa can get out of this situation soon.

Great idea! Sometimes these local groups can offer advice or even mediation to resolve issues like this.
