Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a jam with a large desk I built that doesn't fit in my apartment's elevator. The desktop is a beautiful 96"x36" butcher block black walnut piece that I found for a great price, and it was initially meant for a laundry room. My dad helped me sand and finish it in his workshop, but now I face the challenge of moving it again since I'm relocating overseas for work. This time, I'm worried I'll have to deal with stairs once more because my new apartment might be in a tall high-rise. I thought about cutting the desktop in half to make it easier to handle, but I'm looking for the best ways to transport it safely and with minimum seams. Any advice would be greatly appreciated since I need to move it by the end of next month!

If you're shipping that walnut piece internationally, consider using freight services. They can help you wrap it securely with moving blankets and possibly even a wooden crate. Just be mindful of the logistics, as it can be a hassle.

I'm actually trying to avoid freight since my employer is covering moving costs, but I need to get it out of my apartment first. Walking it 10 flights down and another 28 up sounds terrible!
