Hey everyone! I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I'm in the process of liquidating my deceased father's estate and I need some advice on pricing his collection of wood. I've got a complete list of the various boards, including their lengths, widths, thicknesses, and wood types. But I'm feeling a bit lost about how to fairly price them for sale, especially since I know wood prices can vary quite a bit by region. I'm located in the Portland, OR metro area, if that helps. There's also a mix of specialty woods in there like purple heartwood, padauk, and bloodwood, alongside more common types like oak, walnut, and cherry. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Check out local woodturning clubs in your area! They might buy your stash directly or help you sell it for a donation. Local woodworkers are often more willing to pay a fair price when they see the value in the wood you have. It could be a win-win situation!
It really depends on whether you want to get the best price or if you're just looking for a quick sale. If you want a fast sell, you might have to lower your prices quite a bit. Most woodworkers usually buy for specific projects, so if they’re stocking up they might not pay top dollar unless it's a super sweet deal. Consider pricing the full boards somewhat higher and then offering a bulk discount for the whole lot. That might attract buyers looking for future projects! Good luck!
That's a solid strategy! I was thinking of pricing them individually too, but a lot deal could really speed things up.
Have you thought about posting on Facebook Marketplace? You can either list it all as one lot for a good price or sell them individually. Just keep in mind that people looking to resell might only pay about half of retail prices, but that could still be worth it to you for a quick sale!
I’d prefer selling it all at once, but I’m keeping the individual sale option open. I've checked other platforms and most listings are junk wood or common types, so hopefully, this will be better!

That sounds like a fantastic idea! I remember there’s a well-known club nearby—I'll look into joining and see what they say. Thanks!
