I've been crafting hiking sticks during the summer, and now I'm looking to branch out into making canes. My experience is mostly amateur, and I'm wondering about the best way to attach a knob or handle to the cane. I'm planning to use whittling and my Dremel to create the handle, but I'm unsure of the safest and strongest methods for securing it to the stick. Any advice?

I haven’t made a cane myself, but a good approach could be to explore joinery techniques similar to those used in stool making. A lot of canes online seem to use wedged tenons, which provide a sturdy connection. You could check out some YouTube tutorials—they can be really helpful for visual learners!
I’m in the same boat and have limited tools too. Maybe consider drilling a hole into the stick and adding threads to both the stick and handle to make it interchangeable? Just be cautious, as this could potentially weaken the cane. Joinery can be complex, but sometimes simple solutions work great!
