I'm trying to remove a door latch and honestly have no clue where to start. I've already taken out the screws on the side, but it seems like the latch is still stuck. Any tips on how to get it out? I even considered that maybe my dad messed with it before, and the square hole isn't doing anything!

First, try removing the two screws on the side if you haven't already. Once those are out, the latch should pull out easily. If it’s stuck, stick a screwdriver through the square hole and gently wiggle it. Sometimes a little paint can keep it stuck, so some force might be needed but don’t worry, you won’t damage anything.
You might have to get a little forceful with it. Try inserting a screwdriver into the middle of the latch and pull it towards the edge of the door. It could just be wedged in there pretty tightly, but it's usually not too hard to get it out!
