How Do I Remove My Tarmac Driveway and Replace It With Grass?

Hey everyone, I'm new here! I'm planning to tear out my tarmac driveway and replace it with grass. Since I'm on a corner plot, I'm moving the driveway to the other side of the house. I want to do this myself and was thinking about using a mini digger to lift up all the tarmac and hardcore. Then, I'd hire a grab lorry to take it away. What would be the best way to go about this? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

That sounds like a solid plan! Just make sure to compare costs between hiring a grab lorry and getting a skip—in case you need two skips. Also, think about how you'll move each bucket load, unless you're renting a mini dumper too. Just depends on how big the area is you're working with!

Yeah, I’m worried about costs too! I think once it’s dug up, it won’t be compact anymore, so I’d need a lot of skips. Hoping to just pile it all up instead.

I think a mini tractor with a bucket loader could be super helpful for this! You can use the edge of the bucket to get under the asphalt, and break it up into manageable chunks. Just jump off the tractor to load the pieces and take them to the disposal area—or into a dumpster, if that's what you call it! We did something similar with our old driveway during a garage demo, and it worked great. You might even find some tips on our YouTube channel, CJB118!

Sounds great, I'll check that out! Thanks! ?
