How Do I Remove Stubborn Skirting Boards?

I'm struggling to get these skirting boards off. I've tried using a piece of wood to protect the plasterboard while I work, but there are three huge nails making it really challenging. Any tips on how to tackle this would be super appreciated!

Have you thought about punching the nails through? That might save you some hassle! Just a heads up though—whoever installed those boards really did a number on securing them!

Yeah, I'm actually considering that now... They clearly didn’t want them coming off easily!

I dealt with a similar issue before. A crowbar is your best friend here! Get it in behind the skirting board right at a nail spot, place a cutting board against the wall for leverage, and lean into it to pull those nails out one at a time. Those old nails can be tricky but once you get them, it should all come off. Honestly, nowadays, I'd probably just cut the nail heads off with a dremel. Life's too short for this kind of struggle!
