How Do I Revive My Nanny’s Tired Lawn?

Hey everyone! My Nanny hasn't been able to care for her lawn lately and it's looking pretty rough. There are some bald spots and last summer it was overrun with weeds. I really want to help get it back to green grass! I've got a lawnmower but that's about it. What steps should I take to cover up those bald patches and get rid of the weeds? Any recommendations on products or techniques would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your gardening advice!

I've been working on my lawn too! One thing to keep in mind is to remove the bigger weeds as they can hinder grass growth by blocking sunlight. Keeping them small and manageable helps a lot. Some wild weeds even add charm to a casual lawn and are beneficial for insects too!

First things first, make sure to clean up the lawn and mow it. Then, seed those bald spots and cover them with something to protect the seeds from birds. If you can, buying some bulk topsoil or compost before sowing the seeds can really help, but it's not a must. Just try to plant the seeds during a rainy week so they can settle in nicely.

Absolutely! And once the grass starts coming in, just keep it trimmed regularly. Also, composting the clippings is a great way to manage weed seeds.
