How Do I Save My Dying Succulent?

Asked By PlantWhisperer42 On

I notice that my succulent is looking droopy and has some brown, shriveled parts. Should I trim off the damaged sections and replant it, especially since one of them is starting to grow aerial roots? What steps should I take to revitalize my plant?

It sounds like your plant might be rotting at the roots. I'd suggest cutting it back about an inch above the ground and checking to ensure the remaining tissue isn't brown. Let it callous overnight before you replant it. Also, it looks like the soil might be contributing to issues; it seems a bit too organic. Good soil is key! Exactly! Just remember that overwatering can come from several things like watering too often, using soil that doesn't drain well, or not enough sunlight. Keep an eye on those factors, as they can lead to root rot.

Totally agree with what was said! And just a heads up, you might want to remove that top layer of pebbles. They can block airflow to the soil, making it harder for the substrate to dry out properly. This could lead to overwatering issues, especially with soil that's already on the moist side.
