I recently moved into a new place and discovered some pretty awful gaps between the walls and my baseboards. I've learned the hard way that if I don't handle repairs myself, they just won't be done right. I should've taken a closer look before signing the lease, but that's in the past now! I'm looking for advice on how to best seal these gaps. I was thinking about installing shoe molding and using silicone sealant, but I'd like to know if that's a good approach without having to rip out the existing baseboards. Here's a link to some pictures for reference: [Pictures on Imgur](https://imgur.com/a/7lTf3XN)

For those gaps, a bead of paintable caulk should do the trick if they're not too big. Just a heads up, though—since you're renting, you might want to check with your landlord first. If you end up making a mess, it could come back to bite you when you move out.

Yeah, I've heard horror stories about landlords getting picky. It sounds like you might end up having to fix things yourself anyway. Keep an eye out for any potential pest entries, especially with summer coming!
