Hey everyone! I'm planning to install some string lights in my backyard and I'm considering using 4x4x10 posts with an EZ post base. Before I dive in, I'm curious about how deep I should drill into the existing concrete for a secure hold, and what type of screws would work best? Do you think my approach is reasonable? Any insights would be super helpful, thanks!

For string lights, you don't need to go super heavy with the posts since they're not that weighty. I'd recommend drilling about 12 inches deep into the concrete with a 1/2" metal conduit since it’s easier to work with. Just make sure to use a hammer drill and a quality bit, plus wetting the concrete can help control dust while you drill. Good luck!
4x4x10 posts would work, but you might want to think about drilling deeper or using metal poles instead for more sturdiness. Concrete can be tricky, especially if you want to add things like sun sails later. Just be cautious about weight and stability!

Yeah, I’m definitely considering adding sun sails eventually, so I’ll keep that in mind!
