How do I stop water from coming in through my basement bulkhead?

I've got a bulkhead in my basement that leads to outdoor stairs, and even though it's covered, I'm still noticing water coming in. What can I do to prevent this? Here are some outdoor pics to give you a better idea of the situation: https://imgur.com/a/gf64AHR

Those bulkheads can be tricky! Make sure that the angle of the ground around the bulkhead slopes away from your house; this helps keep water from pooling near it. Also, if the bulkhead is Bilco doors, look for any areas where the seals might be failing.

Good point! I’ll take a look at the ground slope and the seals around the doors.

First off, definitely check the area around your bulkhead after a heavy rain. Water might be seeping in through cracks or gaps in the walls. If there’s a drain underneath the stairs, make sure it’s not clogged with debris or mud. You might want to pull off the cover and give it a good clean with a shop vac. Also, inspect the caulking around your bulkhead; if it looks old or cracked, it could be time to replace it. A little maintenance can go a long way!

Thanks for the tips! I'll be sure to examine the caulking and check for any blockages.
