How Do I Wire My RV Inverter to Switch Between Shore Power and Solar?

Hey everyone! I'm new to solar systems and just bought a 2000W inverter for my RV. I mainly want to power a couple of outlets for kitchen appliances while I'm boon-docking. My goal is to use two existing outlets and switch between shore power and the inverter with a single switch. Ideally, this switch would also turn the inverter on and off. What are your suggestions for safely achieving this setup?

It sounds like you need a 4-pole rotary switch to manage your setup. Make sure it can handle both DC and AC since you want to disconnect the inverter when on shore power. I found a guide that might help with the AC setup. Just make sure whatever switch you pick can support your specific needs!

You might want to look into transfer switches. They're designed for exactly this kind of situation. Check out the manufacturer of your electrical box to see if they offer compatible options. It'll allow you to switch safely between power sources without complications.
