Hey everyone! I'm looking to understand how the ratchet sizing in the US compares to what we use in Europe. In Europe, we typically refer to ratchets as 'small', 'middle', and 'big'. However, in the US, I keep seeing sizes like 1/2, 1/4, and 3/8. If I want to buy a small and a big ratchet, which US sizes should I be looking for? Is it correct to assume that the small is 1/4 and the big is 1/2? Thanks for any help!

As a European, I can tell you that while we have those sizes, professionals often use inches or other measurements like 'tum' to choose their ratchet sizes. The 'small' and 'large' terms are just for casual users who don't handle tools often.
Ah, the love for fractions! Those sizes are all fractions of inches, so if you prefer metric, here's the conversion: 1/4" is about 6.35mm, 3/8" is about 9.525mm, and 1/2" is 12.7mm. You can compare them by changing the denominators. Just thought I'd share that for clarity!
Yep, you're spot on! In the US, 1/4" is indeed the smallest size, and then you move up to 3/8" and finally 1/2". So for a small ratchet, go with 1/4", and for a big one, you want 1/2". Good luck with your purchase!

Got it. Thanks!
