I've got three cats, and the orange one has a particular knack for lounging in my plant pots. I've tried wrapping the pots in foil to deter him, but that just turned into his new favorite hangout spot. I've even attempted a little water spray to keep him away, but he seems to think it's a spa day instead! At this point, it feels like my plants are just waiting for a chance to escape. Does anyone have tips on how to prevent cats from treating houseplants like their nap zones?

My cat demolished three of my plants, and while I didn’t mind losing a couple, I was really upset about my big snake plant! It’s so frustrating when they destroy our green friends.
Citrus oils could be your best friend! I've noticed my cats can’t stand the smell. You could also get them some cat grass to chew on, but that only works for a little while. Moving the plants to higher spots or adding decorative rocks to the pot's surface can also deter them.
I keep my plants hanging from the ceiling or behind glass. One of my favorites is in a bird cage! Plus, as my oldest cat starts to get older and can't jump high anymore, I've experimented with placing plants on top of a tall cabinet. It seems to be working so far! If you do use a spray bottle, I recommend a strong stream setting instead of a mist. That way, my little plant-shredder gets the hint after a few sprays and decides to walk away instead of attacking!
I’ll definitely try hanging them! Thanks for the tip.
With three cats and a baby, I’ve learned to keep all my plants in high places or even in a separate room. I’m just not up for that battle! ?
Haha, it’s like a game for them, right? I’ll definitely try hanging my plants too!

I totally feel your pain!
