Hey everyone! As the growing season winds down in the northern hemisphere, I'm looking for ways to stay engaged with my plant hobby throughout the winter months. I struggle with severe mental illness, and while houseplants bring me joy, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by tasks like watering and dusting them when the colder weather hits. I want to avoid getting stuck in a negative space, so I'm curious - what activities do you all do to connect with your plants during these cold, short days?

For me, keeping plants indoors has been seamless - I don't really notice much of a difference when I repot them in winter. I have consistent heating and grow lights, which helps a lot. Plus, if you're into annuals, winter can be a great time to start seedlings indoors and get everything reset for spring!
I just set up a grow light for my succulents, and honestly, it’s been a game changer! They’re thriving even in winter. I’d probably get more lights if I wasn’t planning to move soon, but it makes a huge difference!
One great way to keep your plants thriving in the winter is to add grow lights! It’s best to choose flowering plants that can handle indoor conditions, especially when it’s freezing outside. Pansies, petunias, and pelargoniums are all super easy options to try out.
I really enjoy making planters for my plants! It’s such a fun project, and I've also seen folks painting terracotta pots or decorating them with tiles. It's a great way to personalize your space!
