I'm looking for tips on how to handle cable and wire management when installing a roofing solar system. Specifically, how do you all get the wiring from your charge controller or combiner box up to the roof? I'm planning to add solar panels to my cottage next spring, and I'd love to see how you handle cable management, raceways, and conduits!

I went with 1.25" RMC running up the side of the house, through the soffit, and into an LB to get into the attic. From there, it routes into a grounded electrical box, and then I used 3/4" EMT to carry it to both sides of the roof to reach the Iron Ridge jaybox. I'm using eight 10AWG THHN, two 12AWG ground wires, and one 4 conductor cable for the Tigo TAP, all routed into four parallel strings. If I could do it again, I might just run straight through the roof instead of taking it through the attic, as I was trying to keep the conduit out of sight. Ultimately, no one would’ve noticed it on the roof, and my choice might’ve added an unnecessary $250 to the project!

That’s a great layout! It sounds like it could save on costs if someone else decides to just punch through the roof.
