My wife and I are moving to a new house in New Zealand, and we're considering some upgrades. She's really keen on enlarging the windows in our study and living room to be floor-to-ceiling steel-frame windows for more sunlight. I'm not so sure, especially since I think it might clash with our oak brown wall. She loves the idea and even wants to add a mini window cleaning robot to our setup. I'd like to understand the importance of these big windows and whether they're difficult to maintain. Should I just support her in removing part of the wall? Any insights would be appreciated!

You might want to get some quotes first before committing. Big windows can look amazing but can also be way more expensive than you might expect. Definitely worth re-evaluating your options after getting some prices on both the window and the wall removal.
So far, we've just checked the cost for wall removal. How much do you think installing those steel frames might cost? We're flexible with our budget, but just need a rough idea.
