Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a bandsaw and I've come across two options: one is a used, older model that's been reconditioned and feels sturdier, while the other is a new entry-level model from Felder that needs a base. Both have the same cutting height and horsepower, but the used one doesn't have a miter slot. I'm trying to decide if not having a miter slot should be a dealbreaker or not. I'd love to hear about how much you actually use the miter slot on your bandsaws!

Honestly, I hardly ever use the miter slot. I’d go for the sturdier used bandsaw without worrying too much about it. You can always make a sled or a jig to handle cuts that you might normally use the slot for. Plus, if you already have a miter saw, that can do a lot of those precision cuts for you!

Totally agree! A good jig can replace the miter slot without any problem, especially for occasional use.
