How Long Can I Expect My AC to Last?

I'm purchasing a new condo and I'm curious about the air conditioning system it has. Here are the details: the condenser was installed in 2012, the capacitor was replaced in 2024, and the dual shaft motor was replaced in 2025. Given this information, how long can I realistically expect the AC unit to last, or is it already on borrowed time? Thanks!

The lifespan of your AC really depends on its overall condition and maintenance history. It's common for components like the motor and capacitor to fail, and it's not unusual for them to last only a few years. Generally, the condenser might last the entire life of the system unless there’s a leak or some external damage like hail. So, it's not all bad news!

Thanks for the insight! I'm in AZ where it's super dry and hot. Any tips on what services I should get to help extend the life of my unit? My previous AC died in December, and I’d hate for that to happen again in the summer!
