I recently bought a house that has butcher block countertops, but they're unfinished, which is a bit annoying. I have some Waterlox and am planning to get sandpaper and other supplies to seal them. The catch is, I need to remove the countertops completely to finish the undersides. It's getting chilly here, and my garage isn't heated. I could do it indoors, but my place is small, and I've heard the fumes from Waterlox can be pretty tough to handle. Can I wait until spring or summer to tackle this job? I'm not sure how long the countertops have been installed, but they seem new—no warping or cracks yet. I'm keeping them dry and wiping away any spills immediately. Right now, the temperature is in the low 10s (10-14°C) with constant rain, and I'm worried the Waterlox won't cure properly. By night, it drops below 10°C, and I believe it needs to be at least 10°C (50°F) to cure well.

If you can’t avoid doing it indoors, definitely check out H20Lox—it’s Waterlox’s lower VOC option. Just as durable, but better for inside use. I’d advice using an oil-filled radiator heater for consistent warmth in your garage.
Have you thought about using a couple of space heaters? It’s a straightforward fix, and I wouldn’t recommend waiting until next year. Better to get this done now before the list of other projects piles up in spring!

Exactly! Plus, if you choose a space heater for your garage, make sure to get one that’s safe to leave on overnight.
