Hey everyone! I've been enjoying my M12 tools after switching over from Dewalt 20V, and I'm curious about the lifespan of M12 chargers and batteries. I've had a few Dewalt chargers go bad on me even with minimal use—charging around 10 batteries per month—but I'm hoping for better results here. How long do M12 chargers usually last before they stop working? Also, I've been using my lower amp hour batteries with a blower and shop vac, fully draining and recharging them a couple of times daily. How many charges can I expect from those before they wear out? Not too concerned about extending their life; I'm just looking for some realistic expectations. Plus, an excuse for a battery BOGO with a new tool wouldn't hurt!

In five years, I’ve only lost about two chargers, which is pretty good. I think I might be the only one who had to buy replacements separately—most people have good luck with them!
Honestly, if you’re like most people here, you'll probably end up with more M12 chargers than you can store! If you're using high-draw tools, I recommend getting some larger batteries as well for better performance and longer runtime. I saw a deal for two 5.0s for $100 recently, which is a steal!
I still have compact batteries dating back to 2015 that are still going strong! I always let them cool down and slow charge them to keep them healthy. My chargers mostly stay home, so they sit for at least 3 hours before I charge again. I've got about 10 batteries for my work needs.
I have M12 and chargers from around 2010, and they’re still working well! The only battery that went bad was one I used with a Ryobi tool using an adapter. I’ve never had a charger fail, and I switch batteries before they drop too low, so that helps.

Nice tip on switching before they get too drained! I might start doing that to prolong battery life.
