How Long Does It Take to Adjust to a Landscaping Job?

I just started a landscaping job yesterday, and man, I've never felt this exhausted from work before! I got home around 4:30 PM, crashed, and woke up at midnight. Now I'm wide awake for the night! We spent the day fixing plow damage, scoopin' up grass, filling holes, and tamping down the soil. It was pretty monotonous but my coworkers are nice. This is my first job like this since I've only worked in retail and food service before. Does it get any easier with all the lifting and labor? My first day was Tuesday, and it wasn't too bad overall—just really tired and sore now.

Your body will adjust to the work if you stay active. Just keep learning and in no time, you might even end up running your own crew!

Oh, it absolutely gets easier! Trust me, the first week is the hardest. I remember feeling like a zombie too. By week two, you’ll start noticing a difference.

Physical labor can be tough at first, but it definitely gets easier over a few months! I’d recommend starting your mornings with some push-ups. You don't have to overdo it—just start with a few and gradually add more each week. Your body will get stronger, and the job will feel less strenuous. Also, don’t forget to protect your back. Lift from your knees and be mindful to avoid straining yourself. And make sure to get plenty of rest after those long days!

Definitely gets better! Just a little tip—keep some spare socks with you. You never know when you’ll need them!
