How Long Should I Expect My Dewalt Lawn Mower Batteries to Last?

Hey everyone! I'm wondering how long your batteries typically last before they start losing power and runtime. I recently bought one of the new Dewalt 2x20v mowers that came out last year along with the 10ah batteries, and I got it in April. Initially, I was able to mow my entire lawn and even use the string trimmer all on a single charge. However, now it barely finishes the lawn mowing before losing power. I'm really interested to hear your experiences with Dewalt's outdoor power equipment! Thanks!

It really can depend on the specific cells in your batteries. Sometimes, if you have a bad batch, they can lose capacity pretty quickly. I've had luck keeping my batteries healthy by letting them cool down before charging, but I did manage to completely run one flat after four years, especially while cutting thick grass in the summer heat. Also, don't forget that a dull blade makes the mower work harder and will affect battery life. Have you sharpened yours lately?

I hadn't thought about the blade! I haven't sharpened it since I got it, so that might be part of the issue.

Batteries for high-drain tools like mowers are bound to wear down faster. I’d suggest using a low amp charger when charging and using your batteries on lower power tools when possible. This helps them last longer. Unfortunately, tools like mowers and string trimmers will drain your batteries quickly regardless. I've got some 9ah 60v batteries for my blower and trimmer, and they don't last as long as they used to either. I've started only charging with a low amp charger to extend their life.

I’ve had my previous gen 2x20v mower for three years and haven’t noticed any significant drop in battery life. But... it really depends on the conditions, such as grass height and moisture. That definitely affects how hard the mower has to work!
