I just applied bees oil to both an older wood cutting board and a newer one. The instructions say to let it soak in for several minutes, but I'm curious about how long everyone else lets it sit. Also, should I wash it off afterwards? I wiped the excess off my newer board, but it still feels a bit oily. Plus, this got me wondering if wooden cooking utensils need to be oiled too. Any advice?

I usually buy mineral oil from the drug store for my boards and utensils. If it's a liquid, I'm not sure how it compares to the bees oil you have. My mix creates a paste that I find works best.

I checked, and my bees oil is indeed a blend of natural beeswax and food-grade mineral oil. It's liquid but a bit thicker than plain mineral oil.
