How Long Should I Let Cut Roots Callous for My New Plant?

Hey everyone! I just got this adorable little plant and I'm about to re-pot it into a terracotta pot using Jacks Gritty Mix. I've heard that trimming the roots can actually help them grow better. My question is: after I trim the roots, do they need to callous? If so, how long should I let them callous before I plant them? The plants are quite small, only about 2 inches tall. Also, during the callousing period, should I keep them in the shade or under a grow light? Any advice would be appreciated!

It's generally best to let the roots callous for at least a week. You can apply some rooting hormone on the trimmed ends and then just plant them in dry soil without watering for that week. This helps prevent infections since the roots are exposed. You might also try using cinnamon powder as a natural alternative to rooting hormone.

Thanks for the tip! But a week sounds kind of long for such tiny roots. I'm worried they might get too dry and die if I wait that long. What do you think?
