How Long Should I Unplug My Dryer Before Taking It Apart?

I'm planning to take apart my dryer for some maintenance, but I'm not sure how long I need to leave it unplugged to ensure it's safe. Any advice on this?

Honestly, if you're asking this, it might be better to avoid taking it apart yourself. However, if you really want to know, just unplugging it for about five minutes should be safe enough for most situations. Just don't mess with any capacitors! They're the ones that hold a charge.

Yeah, that's right. Five minutes is more than enough time to let any stored energy dissipate.

I’d say around a minute would be good, but just be careful. I feel like the longer you wait, the better—especially since some components may hold a charge. Just make sure you’re not touching anything dangerous when you get in there!

Absolutely, a minute is a good guideline. Just keep an eye out for any larger capacitors if you get in there!
