How Long Will Paint Smells Last After Spraying?

Hey everyone! I just had my bedroom painted with SW Whotw Pigmented Shellac on Tuesday and then with SW Superpaint Air Purifying on Wednesday. Now it's Saturday, and there's still a strong smell. Did I do something wrong? How long should I expect this odor to last? Thanks for your help!

Since you had it sprayed, the smell might stick around longer, as it can penetrate various surfaces. Just keep that window open for a while, and try not to worry too much. It should improve eventually!

Opening a window and using a fan to blow the air outside can help reduce the smell from VOCs. I've found that helps a lot! Just give it some time, as paint smells can linger depending on ventilation, especially with high VOC products like shellac.

Shellac is a high VOC product, so you may find that the smell doesn't fade as quickly as you hoped. If you're sensitive to smells, this is something that should have been discussed with your contractor beforehand. Proper ventilation is key to prevent odors from accumulating, and it can sometimes take weeks for the smell to completely go away.
