How Many Seed Potatoes Fit in a 10 Gallon Pot?
Asked by Gard3nN3wb23
Hey everyone! I'm diving into vegetable gardening for the first time this year, and I've got some seed potatoes that I'm currently chitting. I'm curious, how many seed potatoes can I realistically plant in a 10 gallon (40 liter) pot? Any tips would be great!

I'd recommend getting at least 3 or 4 seed potatoes in there. Personally, I usually plant 2 in my 5 gallon buckets, and they grow pretty well!

You could go with about 1 or 2. Remember, potato vines can spread out several feet, so if you cramp them too much, you'll end up with smaller potatoes.

Gard3nN3wb23: Thanks for the tip! How much soil do you typically put in the bottom? I read somewhere that 4 to 6 inches is the standard, but that seems a bit shallow to me.
