Hey everyone! I've got 4 shishito pepper plants growing this year, which is a first for me since I usually go for superhots. However, I'll be out of town during a good part of their peak harvest, so I thought I'd try something different. My husband and I munch on an 8 oz bag of these peppers as a snack or side dish, and I'm trying to gauge how many plants would realistically be enough. What's your experience with yields? Thanks for the insights!

I easily get over 100 peppers from a single plant! That’s pretty ideal since I can definitely eat like 30 at once, haha!
Four plants sound just right unless you're planning to snack on them constantly! I grow both shishitos and padrones, and I usually pick twice a week. It should work out fine for you!
If you're not planning to eat them every day, two plants might do the trick. You could even split them up between different spots in your garden to see which does better. Maybe try two in one bed and two in pots? Just a thought! Would love to hear what others suggest too!
Honestly, I could eat them almost daily! I put my extra one in a big pot with some cucumbers to see how they do together.
Four should work, but we really went all out with six last year because we love them so much!
Last year, my wife and I had two plants and were totally overwhelmed by the harvest, so this year we’re trying four. We’re also excited to try the Shishimai variety!
Haha, that's great to hear!
I grew three shishitos in big containers in NE Texas. That was plenty for us, and we had a pepper feast twice a week with other varieties too. Here's a pic of my harvest!
I’m curious how everyone prepares shishitos! I tried them at a restaurant and loved them but could use some cooking tips.
I usually blister them in a bit of hot oil, then squeeze some lemon or lime over and add a pinch of salt. Sometimes I whip up a soy-based dipping sauce too.
Go for four plants! If you end up with too many, you can freeze or pickle them. Worst case, you’ll have a ton of shishitos and a new hobby making pickled ones! Trust me, that happened to me last year!
Two years ago, I grew 4 shishitos and it was too much! I'm still eating them out of my freezer! They definitely produce a lot, so plan accordingly!

Haha, that sounds perfect for me!
