How Much Should I Expect to Pay for a New Roof?

I'm considering getting a new roof for my house, which has about 1900 square feet of roofing. I need to tear off the old shingles and put on new ones. Can anyone share what you're paying or have paid for a similar project?

Definitely get several estimates from trusted roofers. My experience with a larger roof has shown a huge price range; we saw quotes from $15,000 to $38,000! It's crazy how much it varies depending on the company and the work needed.

I got three estimates too, ranging from $15k to $17k. They're going to remove some really old metal roofing and add new decking, plus my house has a section that's pitched, which might be why it's a bit higher.

Yeah, the price differences can be wild! It's quite a leap from one estimate to another.

I’m actually getting my roof done next week for a 2000 sq ft single story and it’s going to cost me $12,000. I think that's a pretty solid deal!

That's a good price! Just to clarify, is your roof really 2000 sq ft? And is it pitched?

Did you include new decking or plywood with that price? Just curious since it can significantly affect costs.

Not sure about your area, but you can usually look up building permits, which can give you an idea of estimated costs for roofing jobs. Just a heads up, though, cash prices and insurance estimates can vary a lot, especially in places like Florida.
