How Much Should I Expect to Spend on a 10×22 Concrete Patio Installation?

I'm thinking about installing a 10x22 concrete patio on a flat area of my yard. The job will require digging down about 6 inches to prepare the ground. I'm located in New Jersey, and I'm wondering if I should hire someone to do this or if it's a feasible DIY project for me, considering I have some minor experience with finishing concrete. I'm contemplating renting a bull float and some other tools. I'd love to hear if the costs might justify the DIY effort!

Honestly, expect your estimate to triple. That's just the reality of these projects. You might want to take that into account when deciding whether to DIY or hire someone!

It really depends on a lot of factors, like the area and contractor. Maybe get a few quotes? Just remember to factor in prep work if you're going the DIY route, especially if you're thinking about pouring in segments.

Last year, I had a 14x32 slab done in Virginia, and it was about $6,000. I got several quotes, and most were over $8,000. The key is finding a reputable contractor who prepares the base properly to avoid future cracking from the weather. Make sure to ask about expansion joints too!

Based on my experience, if you're in Pennsylvania, you could expect around $5,000 for a concrete patio that's slightly smaller than yours. Prices have been on the rise lately. Just a heads up—don't underestimate the cost; it might end up being quite a bit more than you initially think!
