I'm considering removing a load bearing column in my home, and I could really use some estimates on how much that might cost. Just to give you all a bit of context, I live in Texas. Here's a link to a picture of the column: https://imgur.com/a/U8ZZ2F6. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Removing a load bearing column can get really pricey, especially since it's likely there for a reason. If an engineer can confirm that you can replace it with a different support, then maybe it could be manageable. Just know that they'd have to take out the existing beam too, and things can spiral from there. So without a look at what's really going on, it's tough to give an accurate estimate.
Honestly, there’s no way to give you a solid estimate just from a picture. You'll need to reach out to some local contractors for quotes, as they can assess the situation in person. That's the best way to figure out the costs involved.
If you wanted to know, removing the column could be cheap for me—maybe around $50. But you’ve got to think about the costs of actually supporting the structure afterwards, which can be pretty pricey!

+/- 10,000% you might be in the ballpark with that guess!
