I have a walnut desk finished with Osmo hardwax oil that I purchased about a year ago. From what I've gathered, it's recommended to reapply the oil yearly to maintain its condition. I've bought the same Osmo hardwax oil that was initially used and I have a microfiber cloth ready for the job. My plan is to clean the desk with a damp cloth, apply the oil following the wood's grain, and then remove any excess oil after 15 minutes. I'm looking for any additional advice—do I really need to apply it every year? Is one coat enough, and how long does it need to dry? Also, is a microfiber cloth suitable for applying it?

If you're looking for a more aggressive application, try using a non-abrasive pad on an orbital sander. Just work it in and wipe it off in the same session. You could even do another coat the next day for an extra shiny finish!
I've been using Osmo for a while now, and it's actually super easy to reapply. However, you don’t necessarily need to do it every year—it's more about the condition of the wood. You can apply it with a cotton rag or even paper towels without any lint issues. Just wipe it on and off, and if you decide to do multiple coats, give it about 8 hours between each coat.
You can skip the yearly reapplication! I've had Osmo on my dining table for three years without needing to reapply. A good spray cleaner or a liquid wax cleaner is usually enough to keep it looking fresh.
