I'm a total beginner here! I've been growing vegetables and moving them to larger containers as they grow, but now I have some seedlings that I started directly in a big 5-gallon pot. Since these tiny sprouts just came up today, I'm wondering about watering—traditionally, I let the soil dry out a bit before watering again, but with these little ones, should I be watering more often until they develop stronger roots? How do I best manage moisture for seedlings that are new and still small?

When you have new seedlings, it's better to water just around them. If you soak the whole big pot, the soil stays wet for too long because there's no root structure yet to soak it up. Just focus on the immediate area around the seedlings.

Thanks for the tip! Should I be watering every day or every other day? And should I increase the amount of water gradually as the plant grows? I'm trying to grow some ruby red chard indoors this time, and I really want it to thrive!
