How Serious Is My Shower Leak Problem?

I recently discovered some dark spots on the baseboards and door frame next to my shower, which I suspect could be mold. After keeping an eye on it, I've noticed the shower mat is soaking wet after each shower, and the dark spots are spreading. It's even creeping up the baseboards and into the wall behind the shower. I'm really worried—how bad is this situation? What should I do to tackle this issue, and is it possibly a complete renovation? I've included some photos. We think the leak might be coming from the grout, but after replacing it and applying caulk, the problem persists. I'm looking for some friendly advice on where to begin fixing this mess.

Definitely call a professional for this one. It sounds like a plumbing issue if water is making its way behind the wall, especially if it’s also affecting other rooms. They can determine if the valve or any pipes are leaking. After that, you’ll need to remove any wet drywall to prevent mold from spreading. It might be more than just a simple fix, so prepare yourself for what could come next.

I’d open up the wall behind the plumbing to check for leaks. The longer you wait, the worse it could get! Just take it slow to limit more damage. Once you peel away the drywall, you'll have a clearer idea of where the water is coming from. It could be a pipe leak, a failed shower pan, or something else. Just be ready for the possibility that you might end up needing to replace the drywall and retile the shower, but better now than later!
