I'm looking to cover up an old microwave vent on the outside of my house since it's no longer in use and the old cover looks really worn out. We're planning to fill the hole with some insulation and spray foam, but I need some ideas on what to use for covering the big hole that's left in the wall. Any suggestions?

If you had a microwave over the stove, consider replacing it with a range hood instead of just covering the hole. Microwaves don't always need external ventilation, but if you want an efficient solution, a range hood might work better in the long run.
You might want to check the size of the vent first. If it’s a larger vent like from a range hood, you definitely need something sturdy to patch it up. You could use plywood to fill the hole and then put up siding over it to make it look nice. If it's smaller, maybe a simple patch of material would do, but make sure it’s sealed properly to prevent any moisture issues.
If you can’t match the siding, one option is to seal the hole and then just paint the vent cover to match your house’s color. If you have vinyl siding, you could try swapping a piece from somewhere less noticeable. Just replace that piece with a new one and use that piece for your vent hole! It’s a great way to keep everything looking seamless.
