How Should I Frame Around My Basement Window Without a Concrete Ledge?

I'm in the middle of framing my basement and I've run into a bit of a problem with the windows. Unlike the usual setup where you have a concrete ledge to frame against, my basement window has three lips instead. I'm not sure which one I should align flush with my framing stud. I've attached some pictures for reference. Any tips would be really helpful!

Sounds like you're dealing with a window buck, which is a steel frame installed in a poured concrete wall. Since it seems like you've got an escape window, you want to be careful not to frame directly against the vinyl window itself. You might consider framing to the size of the concrete rough opening and then fitting the jamb, head, and sill up against that instead. Also, I noticed insulation blankets in your pics. If you plan to close the wall up with drywall, you'll really need to take those out to avoid moisture issues. Replacing them with spray or rigid foam insulation will help prevent mold forms due to trapped air. Don’t forget about fireblocking too—it's essential but can be tricky for DIYers!

Got it, I'll go flush with the concrete then. Do you have any links or guides about insulation blankets? I’ve been reading up a lot and this is the first I’ve come across this problem. It seems like the plastic vapor barrier should protect against moisture, right? Also, yeah, I hear you about fireblocking—it’s a hassle but I’ll manage it.
