I've noticed an ant infestation in my compost bin and I'm not sure how to deal with it. Is this something I should worry about, or could the ants actually be beneficial? I primarily add organic materials, but I do toss in some coffee filters and compostable liners from my under-sink composter into this large compost bin in my alley. Any advice?

Honestly, I wouldn't stress too much about the ants. They're actually good for your compost since they aerate the soil and help break down the organic material. They might even improve the quality of your compost!
One easy fix is to just add some water to your compost! If it's too dry, it can attract ants, so a bit of moisture might help get things back in balance.
I think it depends on your situation. If you're worried about ants ruining your flower beds when you use the compost, then I can see why you'd want to control their numbers. But remember, ants can be quite helpful in a compost pile!
