I'm new to drywall repair and need some guidance. I recently removed a TV mount and wall-mounted speakers, leaving behind a section of my textured wall that's full of holes and cutouts for cables. I've got two areas to deal with: a larger section (about 2'x2') with a lot of holes and some smaller areas on the wall. My initial plan was to patch and fill the holes, then sand down the texture around the patch, similar to a method shown in a Vancouver Carpenter video. However, I'm wondering if for the larger section with many holes, I should just cut out the entire area to make it easier to blend the texture instead of trying to fix each hole individually. Any advice would be much appreciated!

You don't need to be cutting out pieces of drywall here! Instead, I'd suggest checking out another video from the Vancouver Carpenter. It's got some great tips for this kind of repair. Once you fill the holes, make sure to add texture before you prime and paint. A little tip: practice your texture spraying on some scrap material first to get the hang of it before working on the wall!
Thanks for the tip! But what should I do to prepare the wall for the texture? Do I need to sand down the existing texture first or anything?
