How Should I Store My Small Gardening Tools to Prevent Rust?

Asked By GardenWhisperer42 On

I'm looking for some advice on how to store my smaller gardening tools, like secateurs and snippers. I want to make sure I don't lose them and also prevent them from rusting. Lately, I've just left them in the garage, and unfortunately, they've gotten a bit rusty. Any tips or recommendations? Thanks!

A simple yet effective method is to keep your tools in a bucket filled with a mix of sand and oil. This keeps them clean and protected from rust!

I prefer to use a storage solution like a tool organizer bag or pockets, and I keep mine in the greenhouse. It's not the best for humidity, but it keeps everything organized. I found this great gardening organizer online that works well for me.

To keep your tools from rusting, it's really important to clean and oil them regularly, especially during the growing season and before you store them for winter. I store mine in the garage, and as long as I keep up with the cleaning and oiling, they've held up great.

What sort of oil do you use?
