How to Change the Bit Holder on My Impact Drill?

Asked By CuriousCat42 On

I'm having a bit of trouble with my new Parkside impact drill that I bought in the UK last week. I'm trying to change the bit holder, but despite pushing the collar back and forth, nothing seems to happen. It's a bit embarrassing to struggle with such a simple task, so I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out how to change it correctly.

If the bit is really stuck, try wrapping the bit in a thin cloth or some tissue paper to prevent scratching, then grip it with pliers. Turn it in the opposite direction of what you were trying to do. You should feel a click and it should come out easily. I find some of my bits get stuck often, especially if they're a bit smaller than the holder.

Great advice, I'll definitely use the cloth trick.

Yeah, that's happened to me too! It’s always the bits that seem just a bit off.

Sometimes the bit holder in an impact drill can get stuck. I usually just give mine a gentle tap against my workbench while holding the bit in place, and that usually does the trick!

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a try.
