How to Change the Polarity on My Extractor Fan?

Hey everyone! I just moved into a new place and noticed that my Envirovent Silent-100S extractor fan is actually pulling air in instead of pushing it out. I've checked the manual but couldn't find anything on polarity. Can I just switch the live and neutral wires around to change it, or am I totally off the mark?

Just a heads up, swapping the live and neutral wires won’t change the direction on AC motors like it does with DC motors. You might need to remove and re-install the fan itself to get it working properly. In the manual, not all models have a switch to reverse it. That could be why you're stuck!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check how to take the unit out and see what I can do.

Sounds like you might not need to change anything! When I took my fan out, I found a protective plastic cover on the back that was blocking airflow. Removing it fixed everything! You might want to check for that first before messing with the wiring. Good luck!

If your fan is a 12V model, changing the polarity might work, but for AC fans, just flipping the wires won’t help. You might have to take out the motor and try putting it back in reversed. Make sure to check that first before moving forward!

Thanks! I’ll remove the unit and let you know what happens.
